Happy Republic Day!

As we celebrate the 69th Republic Day today, it is important to understand that a society is a form of community in which the members or the community take center-stage and is not only the private concern of those who manage it. After all a society acquires life because of the men who control it and operate it, and the society needs nothing more than a set of honest men who will have the interest of the society before them.

This year, we have progressively put the members and the community at the centre of our mission and focus.

Republic Day offers an opportunity for all our members and community to reflect and introspect about our profession. It is also an opportunity to recognize our innate strengths as a community and take the next big leap forward.

We are young society with nearly a majority of our members being less than 30 years. We need to enrich this talent with functional skill sets, knowledge, and attitude that will enable the society to move on a higher growth trajectory.

There are undoubtedly numerous challenges: changing technology, decreasing employment opportunities, lesser membership, lack of quality training, lack of skills, and so on. However formidable these challenges may seem,it is not a mission impossible to overcome them provided we work, and keep reminding ourselves, that STC India has come a long way from its initial days. We are nearly two decades old and have carved a niche for ouselves. It gives me immense pride to be associated with STC India chapter and there could not be a better day than today to say that. Kudos to STC India chapter.

The time has to come to focus on the overall improvement of the chapter. Else, it will be difficult to stay relevant with the changing trends and business needs.

You say STC India has to change, you say STC India has to grow..you say, say and say. What are we doing about it? Ask what we can do for STC India, and do what has to be done for STC India to make STC India the community everyone is proud of.

We must confront and root out any problems that may be weakening the society. We need to have leadership that has distinguished itself through character, caliber, capacity and conduct. We must focus more sharply on quality development irrespective of individual opinions or affiliations. The society interest must be the touchstone of our actions. All our identities should be subservient to the society.

We must care for the society and find solutions to the problems. No task is impossible if we make a collective effort.

Involve, Include, Innovate and Implement will be the keywords as we step in this year of our vibrant society.
