Job Title : Technical Publishing Engineer

The Juniper Networks DNS business group develops industry-leading security solutions for both the enterprise and service provider markets. In Juniper, the work environment is fast-paced, exciting, and evolving rapidly, offering dynamic people the opportunity to help define process while creating product. The DNS Technical Publications team is looking for a writer who enjoys this type of atmosphere.

For the technical writer position, you must develop complete documentation suites for new products and be able to reorganize existing documentation suites. You should write well, be detail-oriented, and flexible.

Additionally, you must demonstrate consistent, high-level use of technical writing principles and techniques for documentation. You have the ability to handle complex assignments with moderate supervision.

Requirements:

– Five years of relevant experience as a technical writer in a technical publication environment in support of high-technical engineering projects. The candidate must have knowledge of and be able to apply technical writing principles and techniques for software and hardware documentation.

– Framemaker experience, proficiency in Epic Editor, RoboHelp, Photoshop, Illustrator, Visio, Teamsite, Documentum

– Educational background for the candidate includes Bachelors or Masters Degree in Journalism / Mass Communication / Engineering (Computer Science / Electronics & Communication / Electrical)

– Knowledge of routing, firewall devices, networking, and network security is desirable.

Responsibilities:

– Responsible for researching, designing, and developing information products that describe Juniper DNS products. The writer produces information products, which include but are not limited to the following: online help, electronic documents, CD-ROM, XML and HTML information, and paper documents. More interestingly, develop documentation for new product introduction.

– Typical work responsibilities include writing or revising descriptive and procedural documents for the intended users, researching content and audience information, using specifications, existing information, and interviews with the customers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop customer profiles and task analysis.

– Responsible for ensuring quality in the product documentation: The writer delivers documents that meet Juniper documentation standards of style, writing quality, and format for online media or paper. The writer works closely with a department editor while planning the project through the various writing stages to ensure corporate standards are maintained. Develop a level of expertise with the available authoring tools sufficient to troubleshoot problems

– Contributes to the product teams and responsible for representing the information development function in product development, information quality, and project schedules.

– Works for one or more project releases. Build-up and demonstrate a good understanding of the user interface for several Juniper DNS products. Assesses the scope, information requirements and delivery medium of product suites to maximize their usefulness to the intended audience.
