STC's Board Meeting

Second 2005-2006 Board of Directors Meeting (Regular Session) was held on 24 September 2005 in Denver, Colorado, USA. A motion was made to approve the Final Budget for FY2006. A preliminary FY2006 budget was approved at the May 2005 board meeting. The treasurer, board, and Society Office have revised those figures to better reflect current income and expense projections.  A motion was made to approve the Final Budget for FY2006 which runs a deficit for the year of $131,784.49. The Board acknowledged that several open issues still exist related to this year’s conference. The Board discussed the need to ensure the budget is aligned with STC priorities and possesses the flexibility and responsiveness to capture opportunities and mitigate risk. Following are some of the motions that were made and approved in this Board Meeting:

  • Few motions and discussion items were completed in support of the transformation initiatives. The initiative was adopted by the Board consistent with the goal of providing improved or additional member value. For more information about the Transformation, go to stc.org/transformation.
  • To approve some changes to STC’s copyright policy.
  • To approve Localized Dues for Membership Year 2006, as presented to the Board at the meeting in a series of spreadsheets. STC Offers Disaster Aid

In response to the devastation caused by hurricanes Katrina and Rita, STC has organized a committee to recommend and oversee efforts to aid victims of these disasters. Comprising members of several communities and the Society board of directors, the “hurricane committee” worked with Shaf Syed, STC’s Web developer, to create a section on STC’s Web site where victims can sign up for aid.
