NEWS YOU CAN USE

  Jobs

Dear Editor,

I read the article "Including Screenshots/Images in Framemaker ....", by Aoyon Choudhary. It was indeed a very nice and useful article. I think you should publish such articles in Indus Webzine always. Tips on using popular software tools by technical writers in India, such as Robohelp, as well as trends in technical writing outside India, will be of immense use. This, I believe would really help the new people in the field of technical writing.

Excellent

Hi,

The article on Word and the "Mentoring the new writer" articles were excellent in the September issue of Indus.

Well Thought Out

Dear Editor,

The article "Effective Mailing List Participation" is well thought. Quoting hospital and hotel situations is appropriate in driving the point home. In summary, there is one term that sums up everything - "common sense". Applying that would reduce so much of whatever that is undesirable and this trait is not limited to mailing list participation alone. You deserve another word of praise. Well Done!

Booster Dose

Dear Editor,

I have seen the latest edition of INDUS. It's quite impressive and exhaustive.

While reading the INDUS, my eyes stopped at one of the good links in this edition i.e., Editor's Footnote. This article really gives a booster to pro-active persons like me.

I am interested to contribute to the INDUS and STC sessions in most of the ways I can.

Mind over Matter…

Dear Editor,

Hi, I liked the way the author has expressed his views in this article. It's true sometimes emotions do reign and can be difficult to curtail them This is especially true in the case of Technical Writers as there is still a lot of ambiguity in defining our role in companies. It is difficult to have intellect reign at all times. I think that Technical Writers, apart from facing the challenges like any others face, also have to keep struggling to show the value-add and also gain respect for the same. In this constant struggle sometimes the intellect stops working and emotion takes over.
