STC India Chapter is Reaching Out…

Reaching out to more members--that is one of our core objectives. As expected, the STC India Chapter 2005 Salary Survey has created ripples across the IT globe. Kudos to the PR campaign team! You have been very successful indeed. Over five dailies in Pune, Bangalore, and Hyderabad gave wide publicity to the event. The Economic Times, too published a fairly detailed article about the survey. All this is a clear indication that the community has been growing and making a difference to the country’s economy. STC has appreciated the efforts and the survey document is now available for download on www.stc-india.org.

The Employment Fair organized in Bangalore on July 2, 2005 received an impressive response. Hats off to Gururaj, who managed the event with aplomb, with help from our volunteers in the garden city of Bangalore. The participants and the sponsors were very satisfied with the event and are now asking for more! The response has only fueled the ambitions of our volunteers. They are now planning for more events in the days to come.

I am glad to report that our work is now reaching out to a larger plethora of audience in many more cities. Rakhi has arranged two successful sessions in the City of Kolkata. She has received a very enthusiastic response.

Bobby George Abraham is now appointed as the City Representative (CR) for Trivandrum. It is the first time that the city has got a CR appointed. Bobby has already conducted one successful event in the city and is working hard on arranging one more event, which will be even bigger. Bobby has ambitious plans and has taken a step forward in organizing joint sessions with the Computer Society of India (CSI). Many STC members are going to speak at that seminar. So, expect to see a lot of Technical Writers out from ‘God’s own country!’

Janani Saraswathy has taken over from Vasanth as the City Representative for Hyderabad. The dates for the Annual Conference 2006 have been announced and preparations have begun. The Program Committee is working hard to make it one of the most successful events conducted this year.

It is with a sense of immense pride that I inform you that the STC India Chapter is now on track to become a ‘regional chapter.’ We now have an enthusiastic member from Pakistan! Join me in welcoming Farzana Jafar from Lahore, who has joined the STC India Chapter.

We have miles to go, but we have definitely arrived...

Mak Pandit, President – STC India Chapter.
