Passing the half-way mark

By Susan Alexander

“Time flies” says a popular adage and we are already in July 2004. During the first half of 2004 our chapter experienced several highs. The most significant of these were the Distinguished Newsletter and Chapter of Distinction awards that made us cheer and made several in the Indian and international technical communication communities take note.

Learning Sessions in the chapter have increased as Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai have joined our traditional Learning Session hubs of Pune and Bangalore. The regular learning sessions held in all these cities showcase the vibrancy of our chapter and the efforts of our City Reps and presenters. We have even begun to hold competitions at some of these learning sessions. Membership in our chapter, which dipped in April, has shown a definite increase in June. Our Newsletter is being published regularly and our website is in the process of being revamped. We are moving ahead, and there is a sense of energy on all fronts.

The next major project in the works is the STC India Chapter annual conference to be held in Chennai in December. It’s time for you to start marking your calendars if you plan to attend. For those who wish to present, the call for papers is out. If you would like to submit an entry to the competitions, it’s time to identify in which categories you would like to participate.

Facing the second half of the year, as a Chapter and as individuals, we need to plan and shape our successes for the months ahead.
