The India Chapter of STC (Society of Technical Communication) is pleased to announce its first Zip Conference of the year 2017 in Mumbai, on 6th May 2017.
The session is FREE for STC members and non-STC India members are charged a nominal fee of Rs. 100 to attend the Zip Conference.

About the Speakers
.
Mugdha Kulkarni started off her career in content writing in the year 2000 and then moved on to Technical Writing in 2002. She is passionate and accountable for setting up good documentation processes and best practices within a team and has exposure to writing and editing for various industry verticals such as Business Intelligence, Telecommunications, Databases, Supply Chain, Enterprise Applications, Storage, Finance, Bar code technology, Auto-leasing among others. She is the current Vice President of STC India and works as Information Architect in IBM, Pune.

Mansha Rathore and Abhinav Sinha:
Mansha is a Computer and Management Major who has 9 years of experience in the IT Corporate World. Her expertise lies in understanding and converting complex concepts into simple and easy to understand content. She has a knack for creating end-user technical documentation, marketing and website content, and storyboards/scripts for marketing and sales enabling videos.She is also a social media wiz.

Abhinav is an advertising graduate who has over 10 years of experience in the IT World. He has successfully facilitated many internal and external problem solving workshops. He excels in finding innovative and alternative ways to represent content. He is a problem solver by nature and is always looking for new opportunities to venture into in order to simplify things around him.

Shalaka Kukreja and Purvi Gandhi: Shalaka, is a fine artist by education and a usability practitioner since last 15 years. Currently with TCS with one of the horizontals that manages TCS IP and products. As a usability specialist, she is involved in designing experiences for varied domians like healthcare, retail, supply chain. Solving design problems through design thinking workshops and drive solutions collaboratively with clients, managers and end users. Currently she is researching and innovating on topics like Lean UX, Natural User Interfaces, new trends in user research, inclusive designs. Purvi has wide range of experience in product ideation and conceptualization; UX strategy definition; interaction design, UX evaluation; usability testing and with tool based methods. She has engaged in shaping up UX for software products; and has conducted workshops with stakeholders to prepare strategy and roadmaps.

About the Sessions
Minimalism with Miffy
The session touches upon various aspects of technical communication. It talks of the changing face of our field, the skills we need to acquire and hone, and concludes how minimalism helps us create more engaging content.
Dick Bruna, the creator of Miffy, practiced minimalism without labeling it so. In this highly interactive session, participants understand the beauty of minimalism through artworks of Miffy.
After the session, the participants don’t feel daunted by minimalism. They befriend it as a creative approach that makes their content friendlier. The session also emphasizes how the brain works differently when practicing minimalism. Once we understand the beauty of minimalism, we can easily apply it to create any type of content deliverable – written content, visuals, or videos.

Visualification by Abhinav Sinha and Mansha Rathore
We all agree that visual cues reach an individual’s brain faster as compared to text and visual cues have a high rate of understanding. This session will show you how you can visualize highly technical conceptual information. The emphasis will be on visual note-taking.

Design Thinking
The session introduces you to Design Thinking and its methodologies which can be applied to any kind of a challenge in our day to day life, followed by interactive exercises, keeping User in mind how do you apply the Design Thinking to any of the problem in the world!
