STC is the largest society of its type in the world. Its 20,000 members (worldwide) include technical writers and editors, content developers, documentation specialists, technical illustrators, instructional designers, academics, information architects, usability and human factors professionals, graphic artists/designers, indexers, copywriters, and translators – anyone who makes technical information available to those who need it. STC has already made its charisma felt in all parts of the world.

The India chapter of STC started in 1999 with 17 members. We grew to become the fifth largest chapter in the world. The activities and initiatives of this chapter benefit over 1000 technical communicators, instructional designers, content writers, and graphic designers through conferences and learning programs. Through its network, the India chapter reaches out to over 3000 communication professionals in India.

Mission
The mission of STC is to improve the quality and effectiveness of technical communication for audiences across the world. Technical communication involves making complex technical information understandable and available to those who need it.
The India chapter of STC is carrying this movement forward in India. Formed in 1999, the India chapter is striving to build a vibrant technical communication community in India. The India chapter provides opportunities for ongoing learning and professional networking for technical communicators across the country.
About the conference
STC India Chapter Annual Conferences have provided learning and networking opportunities for technical communicators since 1999. The largest gathering of technical communicators in India, the annual conference showcases the strengths and knowledge levels of the technical communication community and attracts over 600 delegates each year. Preconference workshops are conducted to help delegates obtain training on functional areas and authoring tools.
The annual conference attracts the largest gathering of STC India Chapter members who are otherwise scattered across the subcontinent. Elections to the India chapter administrative council take place during the 3-day event.
