Mind your user’s business!
As technical communicators, we help our users perform various tasks using software. In doing so, should we focus on the features of the software or on the business process which the users follow? The answer is pretty obvious, but practicing it, tedious! This session covers the principles of writing business process-based documentation, peppered with realistic examples which users can relate to.
Anusha is a Senior Technical Communicator with Siemens PLM Software. She has been with Siemens for the last 10 years. Previously, she has worked with Lionbridge and Keystone Solutions Pvt. Ltd. She has dabbled in both the Waterfall and Agile methodologies. She has authored courseware content as well as technical documents. She enjoys writing and feels that every day is a new learning experience for her.
Dhenuka is a technical editor with Siemens PLM, Pune. She has a Master’s degree in Professional Writing from Carnegie Mellon University. She has previously worked as an editor, a journalist, a technical writer, an information architect, and a content strategist. As a technical writer/editor, she has worked in companies following both the Agile and Waterfall methodologies and in the user experience team. Other than English grammar, she loves learning new languages, typography, and football (not necessarily in that order).
