Conversational Writing - What, Why, and How
Style guidelines have been around for almost as long as technical writers. The buzz these days seems to be around "conversational writing". Is it here to stay? Does it mean that we simply write the way we talk? But no two individuals talk the same way... So is it even feasible to get a diverse team of writers to write in a unified voice?
This presentation introduces the concept of conversational writing, discusses the challenges faced when we try to make our writing more conversational, and presents some handy techniques to ease our transition to this new writing style. After attending this session, participants will learn what conversational writing means -- not just as a concept, but also in terms of the impact on their work.
