This talk will discuss about the use of social media by customers in ways that allow other potential customer to get glimpse real world experiences of current customers with the seller’s products and services. It will also try to investigate why customer retention is an important business aspect for everyone. A short and interactive presentation promised!
Speaker Profiles
Alyssa Fox is a Senior Information Development Manager at NetIQ Corporation in Houston, Texas. She has been involved in technical communication for 15 years. Her interests and skills include technical communication, user experience and usability, process improvement, project management, and agile development practices. Alyssa is a senior member of Society for Technical Communication (STC) and has served the Houston chapter in various administrative roles. She has also served STC at the society level as part of the Intercom advisory panel and the Summit committee, and is the 2012 STC Summit Program Chair. Alyssa has presented at several STC Summits, PMI Houston conferences, and STC chapter meetings, and has won awards in the local STC competition. She is currently a candidate for STC Secretary in the 2012 election.
Aisoorya Vijayakumar, a Lead Technical Writer with Novell, has over six years of experience in the field of technical communication. She has worked extensively on technical learning modules and end-user product documentation. In addition to her primary documentation responsibilities, she handles release documentation management for her team at Novell. She is an avid blogger and pens down her musings at http://coffeebeanmusings.wordpress.com.
Arul Kumar Kanniyan is a documentation production specialist, managing the documentation builds and publication for Novell. A mathematics graduate, he has over 8 years of experience in content management, and tool/application developments for document publication processes in a wide range of domains. He has also worked on projects on books publication, journal composition, eLearning, and print/web advertisements.
Sebastian, a Lead Technical Writer with Novell, has 8+ years of experience in Technical Writing. He holds a masters and bachelors in computer science. Besides Technical Writing, he ventures into automating technical writing processes.
Saurabh is a Customer Documentation Manager with an experience of over a decade managing globally distributed documentation teams and providing documentation services for a variety of domains. He has managed more than 120 documentation projects and implemented over a dozen medium/large size knowledge bases for IT, Information Technology Enable Service (ITES), Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), and product-based companies/clients globally.
He was member of the panel of Expert Evaluators for revising ISO/IEC 25612 standards and made significant contribution to the Unicode Common Locale Data Repository (UCLDR) project. He co-founded, and later served as Editor-in-Chief of, KnowGenesis International Journal for Technical Communication (IJTC). He also provided his services as Associate Editor to Directives, a newsletter published by the Society of Technical Communication (STC)’s Management Special Interest Group (SIG). He has contributed more than 80 works in international research publications and conferences and has conducted several workshops globally in areas like Content Management, Knowledge Management and Documentation Process improvements. In addition to holding an engineering degree in Electronics, Saurabh is a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and an alumnus of Symbiosis Institute Pune and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore.
