Session Abstract

Adobe RoboHelp – All about scripting!!! – Kiranmayee

“Your purpose is to make your audience see what you saw, hear what you heard, feel what you felt. Relevant detail, couched in concrete, colorful language, is the best way to recreate the incident as it happened and to picture it for the audience.”- Dale Carnegie

If you have used macros in MS-Word to automate repetitive tasks, you will definitely be interested in learning how to use scripts in RoboHelp. Scripting is similar to macros; it allows you to automate repetitive tasks. One of the most powerful features of RoboHelp is scripting. RobolHelp does not support macros, but you can use scripts (which are coded instructions) to provide the same functionality. RoboHelp ships with a few helpful scripts to get you started. You can create scripts using a notepad and import them to RoboHelp to perform a task. This session will explore and demo the concept of using scripts (ExtendScript or JavaScript), the built-in scripts in RoboHelp 9. After all, reading is one thing, but the best way to learn is to see something in action.

Domain Knowledge & Technical Writing – Kamalakannan

The session will state the importance of domain knowledge in the technical writing profile and provide pointers to technical writers to leverage domain knowledge to enhance the user documentation skills. Writers can learn to differentiate between domain knowledge that facilitates User Interface workflow and Back-end workflow.
